In this video, Duff's daughter and her friend take on a blind taste test: four teas, no labels, and a running commentary while they try to work out what they're drinking.
The four teas:
What four teas were in the taste test?
Round 1: Yakult Green Tea
First guesses were "Yakult" and "black tea," before landing on green tea with a bit of tang in the aftertaste. Close enough: it's Yakult mixed through green tea, a combination that's popular for its slightly tart, yoghurt-like edge.
Round 2: Cheese Foam Milk Tea
"Cheese" was the first word out, followed by a run through milk tea guesses: Ceylon, then Assam. The cheese instinct was the right one. This is a milk tea topped with a savoury-sweet cheese foam, which explains why "milk tea" and "cheese" both felt right at once.
Round 3: Lychee Four Season Green Tea
This one gave itself away by smell before anyone took a sip: "the smell is very nice," followed by "it's lychee, I can smell it." Four Season green tea has a naturally fragrant, floral base, and lychee makes it even easier to pick out.
Round 4: Mango Green Tea
The last cup caused the most back and forth: green tea, then a guess at something else entirely, before settling on mango. The sweetness threw them off for a moment, but they got there in the end.
How many did they get right?
Three out of four correct on the first real guess, with the fourth landing right after a bit of debate. Not a bad effort for a blind tasting, and proof that Sunwide's tea flavours are distinct enough to pick apart once you know what to look for.
