Tapioca Balls, also known as boba, bubble pearls or black pearls, are the standard size tapioca topping, the default used in most bubble tea menus.

Best for: Bubble tea shops, dessert bars, shaved ice and ice cream stores.

Why operators choose this: This is the standard black pearl size, the size customers expect by default. Soft, chewy texture holds up through service.

How to cook?

Prepare 1 cup of Tapioca Pearls and 6 cups of water
Bring the water to boiled, once the water is boiled, pour the Tapioca Pearls into the pot
Cook for 20 mins
Turn off the heat and cover the pot for another 20 mins
Strain and rinse the pearl under cold water
Mix with Brown Sugar Syrup / sugar syrup
Ready to serve
Best served while freshly cooked

How do I cook Tapioca Balls?

Boil 1 part pearls to 6 parts water for 20 minutes, turn off the heat and leave covered for another 20 minutes, then strain, rinse under cold water and mix with brown sugar syrup.

Cooked pearls are best served while freshly cooked. They harden as they sit and the chew is lost.

What is the shelf life, and how should I store it?
