1.2 Mini Tapioca Balls, also known as boba, bubble pearls or black pearls, are the classic soft, chewy tapioca topping in a smaller 1.2mm size.
Best for: Bubble tea shops, cake and pastry kitchens, shaved ice and bingsu stores, ice cream and dessert shops.
Why operators choose this: The smaller 1.2mm size suits delicate toppings such as cakes, tarts and puffs, where a standard pearl can overwhelm the dish. Cook before serving and pair with jumbo straws in drinks. See it used in our Brown Sugar Tapioca Pearls In Milk Tea recipe.

Frequently asked questions
How do I cook 1.2mm mini tapioca pearls?
Use 1 part pearls to 6 parts water. Bring the water to a rolling boil before adding the pearls. After resting, strain and rinse under cold water, then mix with brown sugar syrup or sugar syrup. Best consumed within 4 hours of cooking.
What is the shelf life, and how should I store it?
Store unopened bags in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight. Refrigerate after opening. The best-before date is printed on every bag and every carton.
How many drinks can I make from one 3kg bag?
A 6-bag carton (18kg) makes roughly 600 servings. Tapioca pearls expand during cooking, so a 60g portion of cooked pearls comes from about 25g of dry pearls. Actual yield depends on your recipe and cooking time.
What are the pack and carton specifications?
Order single bags, or order by the carton for wholesale pricing. Stock is held in our Melbourne and Sydney warehouses.
What else can I use tapioca pearls for besides bubble tea?
The soft, chewy texture works with any cold drink and is increasingly used as a dessert topping. Serve with jumbo straws when used in drinks.
